The North Dakota Lottery is sponsoring a Powerball with Power Play Retailer Clerk Promotion.  Beginning Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, through Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, the Lottery will be issuing Clerk Coupons, from the lottery terminals, to retailer clerks who sell Powerball tickets with the Power Play option.  Each Tuesday, Jan. 24, Jan. 31, Feb. 7, and Feb 14, 2012, the Lottery will randomly select winning Clerk Coupon numbers and award weekly prizes to the winning clerks.

A. Purposes

The purpose of the Clerk Coupon Promotion is to encourage retailer clerks to educate lottery players about the advantages of purchasing the Power Play option and reward retailer clerks who sell the Power Play option.

• Winning Powerball with Power Play tickets increase all prizes, except the jackpot.
• Retailer Clerks can win great prizes by encouraging players to purchase the Power Play option.
• Power Play sales increase the Lottery retailer’s commission.

B. How to Qualify

• Each time a clerk sells a Powerball with Power Play ticket, the terminal will automatically print a Clerk Coupon.
• There is no limit to the number of Clerk Coupons a clerk may obtain.
• A qualifying ticket may be a Powerball ticket of any value provided that it has the Power Play option.

 C. Clerk Coupons

• Each time the terminal prints a Clerk Coupon, the clerk who made the sale should immediately sign and complete the back of the coupon and retain it throughout the week.
• Each Clerk Coupon will have a seven-digit qualifying number printed on it.
• Each clerk is responsible for safekeeping their Clerk Coupons.
• The Lottery is not responsible for lost or stolen Clerk Coupons.

D. Awarding Prizes

• Each Tuesday of the promotion, starting Jan. 24, 2012, the Lottery will randomly select winning Clerk Coupons from those issued during the previous week.
• All weekly prizes will be awarded in descending order of their value.  The prize with the highest retail value will be awarded first, the second highest retail value prize will be awarded second, etc.
• The Lottery will post all weekly winning Clerk Coupon numbers on the Lottery’s webpage, www.lottery.nd.gov and will make them available on each lottery terminal on the day they are drawn. 
• A retailer clerk may win more than one prize.

 E. Claiming Prizes

• Weekly Prize winning retailer clerks must be employed at a Lottery retailer on the day a prize is awarded.  The term “awarded” means the day the Lottery selects the winning Clerk Coupon.
• Retailer clerks cannot transfer their Clerk Coupons to another clerk if their employment at a Lottery retailer is ended during the promotion.
• The Lottery may verify the employment of winning retailer clerks.
• The winning Clerk Coupons may be hand delivered to the Lottery by the winning retailer clerk or mailed to:  North Dakota Lottery, 1050 E. Interstate Ave., Suite 200, Bismarck, ND 58503.
• The winning clerk must sign and complete the back of the winning Clerk Coupon.  The signature will designate ownership of the Clerk Coupon and prize.
• Winning retailer clerks agree to allow the Lottery to publicize their name, picture, city of residence, and employer upon claiming their prize.
• No person may claim a prize for another person.
• The Lottery will coordinate with the winners to arrange delivery of weekly prizes.
• All weekly prizes must be claimed by March 31, 2012.
• Mailed winning Clerk Coupons must be postmarked by March 31, 2012.

The following prizes will be awarded each week:

G. Corporate Policy

• Any Lottery retailer’s policy, regarding the distribution of prizes to employees, may supersede the Lottery’s rules if the retailer provides its clerks and the Lottery with their plan for distribution of any prizes won, at their retail site, by January 15, 2012.
• Any prizes awarded with an alternative corporate policy must be claimed, by the winning clerk, by March 31, 2012, or they will be forfeited.
• Prizes will only be awarded to individuals, not corporations.

H. Unclaimed Prizes

• A clerk will forfeit any prize that remains unclaimed after March 31, 2012.
